A Voice They Can Depend On

Today is Universal Children's Day.

While every day is special, especially for those of us with kids and grandkids, today allows us to pause and reflect on the blessings and challenges so many children around the world face.

The sad truth is that there are many children in the world who are not given the opportunities that our kids in North America have to reach their God-given potential. It is very obvious from scripture that God loves children and sees them at the same rank as adults*. In fact, God repeatedly warns adults of our moral obligation to care for children everywhere who are vulnerable and defenseless*.

I ask myself, and today I ask you, are we doing enough to make known the struggles of those we are asked to care for? Are we shocked when we read the painful stories of our neighbours around world or are we becoming hard and desensitized? If these were my children/grandchildren would I simply stand by and watch from a distance? How in a civilized society is it so easy to ignore and/or turn away from atrocities?

As I ponder these questions, I am asking myself to let God show me one thing I can change about my attitude, or how I can change my response towards this kind of gross neglect. I want to make a positive difference to a child today and maybe for eternity.

Would you please do the same?

Blessings,

Ben

Right now, over 100,000 children (some separated from their families) are wandering alone through the war ravaged countryside. And this is just in one province of the DR Congo. We are working to deliver hope in these exposed children and to all vulnerable children around the world. You can stand up for the most vulnerable – won't you consider sponsoring a child today?
