May Zamora is a wonderful cook. But five years ago, no one knew it. Before May Zamora became involved with FH (Food for the Hungry) here in Navotas, (Philippines) she stayed at home, doing laundry and taking care of her three daughters. But now, with the help of FH and a local Christian Church, her world has expanded.
When her thirteen year old daughter, Myralyn, become sponsored through FH's Child Development Program, May's eyes began to open to the possibilities FH was creating for her family. Then, when FH and the local church helped her youngest daughter (who had broken her elbow from a fall at age two and never received medical care) get yearly checkups and X-rays, May began to see exactly how invested FH was in the well-being of her children.
After seeing FH programs help her daughters, May decided to get involved and attended several seminars, which provided her with new and healthier ways of cooking, as well as information on nutrition, health and hygiene. Through FH, May gained more practice and knowledge in using her talent of cooking. She now shares it with others by cooking for visitors at the church, for FH programs, and for the under-5 feeding program.
