Last November, Heartland Alliance Church (in Sherwood Park, AB) sent their first Work Team to their partner community Santa Barbara in Peru. They spent 10 days in the community and while there, fell in love with little 5 year old Zaida.
They couldn't forget her when they got home and wanted to help her with her eye condition, called strabismus ("lazy eye"). So, two of the couples from Heartland decided to make a combined donation to the Child Development Program in FH Peru through FH Canada. The donation was designated for 'special medical projects/needs in Santa Barbara' and would also help Zaida and her family see the doctors and get the treatment she needed.
FH Peru field staff writes that the money provided by these couples allowed Zaida’s family to seek medical help. The doctor has decided to have Zaida try corrective lenses for six months before resorting to surgery, and how cute she is in her new pink glasses! Thanks Heartland Alliance Church!
