FH Canada opened its doors to the public on Saturday, September 12 for its first annual open house since changing its name from Canadian Food for the Hungry International to FH Canada. Guests came in a steady flow throughout the sunny afternoon and were greeted by staff members.
The office parking lot was filled with activities to acquaint guests with some of the organization’s programs. A petting zoo featured goats, rabbits, chickens and other livestock allowing visitors to see some of the animals available for purchase through FH Canada’s Gift Guide which impact families in developing communities around the world. Photos showcasing FH Canada’s medical equipment warehouse in Saskatoon were displayed inside a large shipping container which delivers the equipment overseas. And, of course, a barbecue provided food for the hungry visitors.
The event conveyed the organization’s mission of working towards eradicating poverty through sustainable community development. “Our team’s passion to make a difference in the lives of people on both sides of the economic and social scale is an inspiration to me,” says Ben Hoogendoorn, President and CEO of FH Canada. Recognizing the presence of many local BC partners at the event, Ben acknowledged, “There is a lot of potential to make an impact by working together as a team.”
FH Canada is proud to thank the following Abbotsford sponsors who helped make this event possible including Superstore, Pricesmart, Costco, Big Steel Boxes and Panago Pizza.
