Thank you to all who have generously given towards our emergency relief efforts in the Philippines and for those who urgently prayed for the Philippines to be spared from the second "super" typhoon that was predicted to strike this weekend. Here is an update from FH Philippines Staff:
Greetings on this Saturday! This is to inform you that the super typhoon headed towards us has slowed down and changed direction. The whole day today the weather was okay. We have had occasional rain but the wind is not that strong.
As early as Friday morning people relocated, bringing with them their belongings and food. The government mobilized local leaders to check their respective villages and forced people living in low lying areas to evacuate in designated places. Most people gave heed to the warnings.
We have been receiving prayer chains and noticed that even television networks have been encouraging people to pray. The whole nation placed was under state of calamity, felt fear and asked seriously for God's mercy. The Lord listened and spared us.
At this time, our FH Child Development Program communities are all okay and were relieved that this second typhoon changed its course. Thank you all for praying with us!
FH Canada is carefully assessing how to continue resourcing the many areas throughout SE Asia recently impacted by national disasters. Stay posted for more information.
