Each year, the FH Cambodia staff partner with leaders and the Village Development Committee identify a couple priorities to focus on during leadership training. This training aims to prepare leaders to direct and run the existing project themselves after FH Cambodia phases out of their community.
All the participants were welcome to talk about their past experiences in leadership. As they shared their knowledge and practices, FH Cambodia staff were able to contribute some leadership tips based on biblical principles.
On April 27-28, FH Cambodia staff facilitated training on the role of good leaders for village leaders from 5 communities in the Thlat area. The emphasis of this training was defining roles in serving the poor, being a successful leader in the community and how to share responsibility between leaders and the community at large. 20 people (11 women and 9 men) participated in the training.
Mr. Touch Rum says, “Before, I led people bringing the ideas, orders from the higher level and share with people. Through this training, I know that I have to serve people, especially the poor to reach their God-given potential.”
Biblical principles have been transformational in many communities where leadership training has been implemented. As Mr. Touch Rum realized, humility and a serving heart are powerful leadership tools that will help build up a community to reach their potential!
