Cary Price is coming to Richmond - and we're going to be there with him!
Food for the Hungry (FH) Canada is proud to partner with Play4Life, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children from child trafficking and exploitation in Southeast Asia, as well as helping at-risk youth in Canada.
Carey Price, the Montreal Canadiens’ superstar goaltender, will be making a rare Vancouver-area public appearance on July 11 when he attends the Play4Life Breakaway Ball Hockey Tournament at the Olympic Oval in Richmond!
Price and Winnipeg Jets defenceman Keaton Ellerby will be meeting fans and signing autographs during this one-day event.
Play4Life is dedicated to providing unique opportunities for youth to help mentor other youth by hosting safe, fun, and engaging sporting events where registration fees go directly to partner organizations working with children and youth in Cambodia, Thailand, and Canada.
The Breakaway Ball Hockey Tournament is an indoor, four-on-four competition for youth in the 8-16 age bracket. The event will feature four divisions with six teams per division. Registration is $250 per team, and teams can include up to 8 players. Games will be officiated by certified referees, and 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to charity.

Price is coming off a career year with the Canadiens which saw him collect four major trophies – the Hart (MVP), Vezina (top goaltender), Ted Lindsay (most outstanding player as voted by the players) and the William M. Jennings (fewest goals against, shared with Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks) – at the 2015 NHL Awards on June 24. The 27-year-old from Anahim Lake, B.C. is the first goalie in NHL history to sweep those four awards. Price has also sparkled in international play, backstopping Team Canada to gold medals at the World Junior Championships (2007) and the Winter Olympics (2014).
Ellerby, 26, is a seven-year pro who is a veteran of 212 NHL games. He’s spent the past two seasons in the Jets organization, posting two goals and five assists in 52 NHL regular season games.
