A big congratulations to Christian singer-songwriter Jon Neufeld for winning the GMA Covenant Award Song of the Year for COME ALIVE!
COME ALIVE was released in August 2014 with Jon's first solo album Burn Bright. In spring 2015, Jon unveiled his new songs on the live stage in his western Canada tour, Burn Bright and Beautiful with Dan Bremnes. Jon embarked on a second tour this fall - A Night of Worship - traveling from eastern Canada all the way to Vancouver Island.
Last night in Edmonton Jon was presented with his Covenant award by Grant Saip and Shawn Plummer of Food for the Hungry (FH) Canada. The two were excited to have the privilege of honouring FH Canada's star Child Advocate in this special way.
When we asked Jon what this evening meant to him, here's what he said:

It was an overwhelming honor to win this 2015 Covenant Award. I wrote this song as a response to beauty. My heart feels alive, and fully awake, when I experience the power and majesty of God’s creation. My senses respond with emotion, my heart leaps for joy, and my soul melts into surrender when I see the beauty and reality of God’s hand in Creation.
Living in the Pacific Northwest, I feel like I’m constantly exposed to so much natural beauty, and I wanted to capture that awe and wonder in a song. I honestly didn’t feel like I “quite got there” on this song, especially the lyrics, but I’m honored, of course, to receive this award, and thank God for using me in some small way to be a part of building his Kingdom, and hopefully, creating art that points to his beauty and lifts up burdened souls to “Come Alive” again.
